We commissioned a survey comprising of 5 simple questions designed to provide a snapshot of our potential clients in our local area.
They questions were:
- Have you or someone you know ever lost a key or set of keys?
- Can you recall how it felt losing your key(s)
- Did it have, or can you imagine, an impact on your life?
- Did you learn anything from that experience?
- Have you acted in any way to prevent it happening again?
And our survey said…
- About half of all our sample householders have never lost a key and practically all of them have never considered the consequences of doing so.
- About 60% of the remaining sample householders who had lost keys and had suffered the trauma of doing so did act in a way to prevent it happening again.
- 100% of all our sample householders who do have a spare key option have the spare key with a relative, a friend, safety deposit or a secret hiding place such as under the door mat or in a flower pot!
In short, half the population of our operational area will have to break in to their home when they lose their key(s) – the other half will have to rely on extremely understanding and always available friends, relatives and banks and some will be praying that an opportunist housebreaker does not come calling as entry with a key will invalidate their home insurance.
