Due to the advanced security features on modern cars, it has become impossible to perform tasks such as changing car keys and locks without having very costly specialist equipment at hand.

Security is so sophisticated these days that organising a replacement key becomes a major undertaking and a lost key cannot be ordered from stock, it has to be individually made by the manufacturer. You cannot even place an order to get on to the waiting list  (on average 5 days) until you can supply the registration document (V5) and personal identification and if the key has to be programmed by chassis number you will have to pay about £50 on top of an already hefty bill.

Even if you have your spare key safely stored in your home what happens if you lose your car key when you are on the road? No doubt you will have to ask someone not only to find your key but to bring it to you – where ever you may be – what ever time it is – day or night – whatever the cost.
